Orioles' top 3 trade chips revealed, with Trevor Rogers problem originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
There are virtually no teams that are clearly out of the postseason race in a weak American League.
Okay, maybe the Los Angeles Angels have little to no chance.
That should create interesting buy/sell conversations and rumors at this year's trade deadline.
The Baltimore Orioles are one of the AL clubs that are under .500, but are somehow within 3.5 games of a Wild Card spot.
Unless the Orioles can make a strong push before the All-Star break and deadline, they could become sellers.
Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer tabbed three trade chips the Orioles could move before August 3.
- Adley Rutschman, C
- Taylor Ward, LF,
- Rico Garcia, RHP
The other standout player Rymer listed from Baltimore was left-hander Trevor Rogers. But the front office may have a tough time fielding interest in the All-Star amid his struggles on the mound.
MORE: Tarik Skubal being traded by Tigers would help him in free agency
"As for Rogers, well, he's back to being bad again after a brilliant run in 2025," Rymer wrote. "A team would have to look underneath his 5.83 ERA and see something fixable to be interested in him as a rotation piece."
Other relievers the Orioles could trade away are closer Ryan Helsley and Andrew Kittredge.
The trade packages wouldn't be tremendous, but why hold onto either of them if you can get something of value in return?
