If everything goes as planned for the Oregon Ducks during the 2026 season, quarterback Dante Moore will see nearly every snap save for fourth quarters in blowout contests. In his place, Dylan Raiola will likely step in for those certain situations — but likely only in four games in order to preserve the ability to utilize a redshirt.

Despite that plan, of Raiola sitting almost the entire season as Moore's backup, Raiola is still considered a highly-ranked transfer portal addition for the Ducks.

According to On3, Raiola is the No. 8-ranked quarterback in the 2026 transfer portal cycle. He is just ahead of Penn State's Rocco Becht and Baylor's DJ Lagway, who transferred from Iowa State and Florida, respectively.

Raiola's spot in the ranking makes sense considering he was a five-star and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247 Sports Composite, and started for the majority of two seasons for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

While he struggled as most true freshman do, with a huge example being Moore's time at UCLA, Raiola bounced back in 2025 and threw 18 touchdowns to just six interceptions, a big leap from his 13-touchdown, 11-interception campaign in 2024. He also upped his completion percentage from 67.1% to 72.4% and his average yards per completion from 6.9 to 8.0.

That was despite missing the final four games of the season with a broken right fibula, an injury that he's still recovering from.

And while his talent was evident at Nebraska in both seasons, it was clear that he needed to refine his game in order to put himself in the best position to succeed at the next level. For those reasons, Oregon was the best fit because of the blueprint that Moore had laid: sitting in the shadows and learning for a season before taking over as the starter and blossoming as a much more mature and polished player.

If the season goes as expected, the fruits of the Oregon staff's labor in both recruiting and developing Raiola will come to fruition not in 2026, but in 2027 — a different path than every other starting-caliber quarterback in the 2026 transfer portal class but a strategy that has been proven effective with the Ducks program.
