While the recruiting season heats up for the Oregon Ducks this weekend, one of their top commits in the 2027 class will be putting his skills up against the rest of the 2027 quarterback class this weekend.

Five-star quarterback Will Mencl will make the trip to Los Angeles this weekend for the Elite 11 Finals. The top passer in the country from Chandler, Arizona, per Rivals, will be one of 20 quarterbacks at the event in Southern California, which includes the top 10 at the position.

Mencl committed to the Ducks on April 22 and has become the gem of the class so far. Standing at 6-foot-3, Mencl's accuracy and running ability have lifted him to the top of many recruiting boards, but Oregon has been his dream school. He will get the chance to show the Ducks what they are getting when compared to the rest of the class.

Among the top competitors in the Elite 11 Finals is four-star passer Jake Nawrot, whom the Ducks pursued before he committed to Kentucky, joining forces with Will Stein. Rivals ranked Nawrot's performance at an Elite 11 regional workout the best among the quarterbacks headed to Los Angeles.

On that same list, Mencl placed sixth. Ahead of him were Nawrot, Trae Taylor (Nebraska), Keegan Croucher (Ole Miss), Israel Abrams (Miami) and Peter Bourque (Virginia Tech).

"The Oregon pledge has a clean throwing motion and throws a catchable ball," Rivals' Charles Power wrote. "He did a nice job locating his passes and generally hit wide receivers in stride. He settled in as the workout went along, coming off a cross-country flight. There were times where his lower body sequencing (locking front leg) affected the accuracy of some throws. Mencl’s arm is more good than overwhelming at this stage in terms of his ability to generate velocity. He’s a quarterback who wins with timing and accuracy along with his processing ability and athleticism in live situations."

Mencl will compete on May 29 and aim to claim the MVP at the end of the three-day event.
