After some tough misses on the recruiting trail recently, the Oregon Ducks need to make a big splash. The Ducks lost four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder to USC last week, but now the Ducks are in a position to land a commitment from another high-profile offensive lineman.

Four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand narrowed his recruitment down to four schools on Wednesday, which included the Ducks. Amongst Hildebrand's finalists, Oregon joins Utah, Arizona State and Texas A&M.

Hildebrand is a star at Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, which isn't far from Arizona State's campus. Kenny Dillingham, who used to run the Oregon offense as offensive coordinator, has been pursuing the offensive tackle for some time, but the Ducks could swoop in and steal him from the desert with a good final push in his recruitment.

Part of that final effort would be finding a way to get Hildebrand on campus in Eugene for a visit. He already has visits set for Arizona State and Utah in June, but the Ducks and Aggies are working on scheduling visits soon. Hildebrand told Rivals exactly why he believes the Ducks could be a good fit for him.

"Oregon is in because of their top-level program, player development and the opportunity to compete for championships," Hildebrand told Rivals. "Coach (A’Lique) Terry is a former NFL offensive line coach for the Vikings, so he knows what it takes to get to the NFL, which is the ultimate goal."

A core focus of Hildebrand's recruitment appears to be NFL development. While each of his finalists can point to players in the pros who came through their respective programs, the Ducks have an edge with A'Lique Terry's NFL experience. The Ducks also have their fair share of linemen in the NFL, most notably Penei Sewell, who has become an All-Pro with the Detroit Lions, and Josh Conerly, who was a first-round pick last year by the Washington Commanders.

Hilbebrand is the No. 94 overall player in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking for the 2027 class, and is the No. 2 recruit in Arizona and No. 9 offensive tackle in the class. Oregon only has one offensive tackle currently committed to their 2027 class. Arizona State and Utah are considered to be Hildebrand's current lean, but this recruitment has a long way to go.

While getting Hildebrand on campus should be a priority for the Ducks, they are also considered to be top contenders for running back Noah Roberts, who Hildebrand has been blocking for at Basha. If the Ducks could lock down a commitment from Roberts or get him on campus with Hildebrand at the same time, the Ducks could wind up in a position to land both highly-touted players from the desert.
