The Oregon Ducks are losing some significant depth on the defensive line thanks to the transfer portal, and all of it appears to be coming on Sunday afternoon.
According to multiple reports, defensive lineman Tionne Gray is expected to enter the transfer portal following the 2025 season, becoming the sixth defensive lineman to announce his transfer on Sunday. Gray joins a group of Blake Purchase, Xadavien Sims, Ashton Porter, Jericho Johnson, and Tobi Haastrup to enter the portal.
This is a significant loss for Oregon, as Gray was a valuable rotational player for the Ducks in 2025. He played in 13 games, registering 13 tackles and two tackles for loss. Johnson is a former 4-star recruit who was rated as the No. 422 player and No. 46 DT in the 2024 class.
While the departure of all these players is unfortunate and frustrating for fans, it also makes sense. Earlier on Sunday, the trio of Matayo Uiagalelei, Teitum Tuioti, and A'Mauri Washington all announced their return for the 2026 season. With the addition of Bear Alexander, who already announced his return last month, that means the Ducks' entire starting defensive line will be back next season.
However, a lot of the rotational and second-string players are now gone because of it, so Oregon will likely go into the transfer portal to add more depth.
