The field is set for the second-annual National Duals Invitational wrestling tournament, which will be held Dec. 12-13 at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
The event’s defending champion, Ohio State, and NCAA runner-up Oklahoma State headline the 16-team field announced Tuesday. It also includes Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Stanford, Little Rock, Pitt, Rutgers, Stanford and Maryland.
The total purse for the event, sponsored by Paycom, is set at $1.23 million, including a $50,000 increase in the champion’s share — now set at $250,000.
Every team receives $20,000 for participating, with the opportunity to compete for additional prize money in team takedown bonuses. The top eight finishers claim additional payouts as well.
“Seeing this caliber of programs commit so quickly reinforces what we’re building in Tulsa,” tournament director Matt Surber said. “The National Duals Invitational is bringing together some of the most historic programs to compete for significant prize money in the exciting duals format. We expect this tournament to continue elevating the sport of college wrestling.”
Tickets for the two-day event go on sale at 10 a.m. May 26 through Ticketmaster or the BOK Center box office.
