The Oklahoma Sooners are in pursuit of another wide receiver in the spring transfer portal. On Tuesday, the Sooners offered McNeese State wide receiver Jer'Michael Carter. According to Parker Thune of OUInsider, Carter's agent shared that the Sooners have a visit scheduled with Carter for this Friday in hopes of adding the coveted transfer portal wide receiver.

Carter was an unrated prospect in the 2023 recruiting class out of the state of Louisiana but starred for McNeese State in the 2024 season, accounting for 22% of the passing yardage last season. Carter recorded 37 receptions for 537 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

He's a dynamic player with good size. Carter stands 6-foot-4 and weighs over 190 pounds.

The Sooners are looking for talent and production on the outside to help mitigate the losses of Jayden Gibson and Javonnie Gibson. Both Gibsons will be out until fall camp, but given the nature of their injuries, the Sooners need some insurance on the outside and a guy that can come in and play right away.

Oklahoma has good depth in the slot with Deion Burks, Isaiah Sategna, and Jacob Jordan, but aside from Keontez Lewis, the Sooners don't have a guy on the outside with collegiate production to rely on. Zion Kearney, Ivan Carreon, Elijah Thomas, and Emmanuel Choice have a chance to earn a role in the starting lineup but they need to continue their progression this offseason.

If the Sooners can earn a commitment from Carter, it'll give offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle another ascending player on the outside.
