The Oklahoma Sooners' offensive line remains one of the biggest question marks entering the 2026 season. The unit returns four starters from last season, but will have to replace the leadership of Febechi Nwaiwu, who was the anchor of the group.
That is why it was a pleasant surprise to see redshirt sophomore Eddy Pierre-Louis selected as one of the three Oklahoma players chosen to represent the program at SEC media days. Pierre-Louis is a Tampa native, making the selection even more meaningful with SEC media days being held in his hometown.
A former four-star prospect, Pierre-Louis saw limited action as a true freshman before earning a starting role last season and holding onto it throughout the year. He's expected to play a major role this year in Oklahoma getting back to its dominant offensive line play.
During SEC media days, Pierre-Louis was asked about embracing a larger leadership role within the offensive line room.
“My guys look up to me, so I’ve got to go harder for those guys," Pierre-Louis said. "I’ve got to put myself aside. I can’t worry about me — I’ve got to worry about my group and what’s best for the team.”
For Oklahoma's offensive line to take the next step in 2026, it will need players like Pierre-Louis to embrace leadership roles. The Sooners have plenty of young talent returning, but replacing Nwaiwu's presence will require multiple players to step up.
If Pierre-Louis can continue developing both on and off the field, he could become one of the foundational pieces of a unit looking to return to its former standard.
