The OKC Thunder intends to sign Kenrich Williams to a one-year, $5 million contract.
NBA insider Chris Haynes first reported the news on Thursday. Contracts can be signed at 11:01 a.m. CT Monday.
OKC declined its $7.2 million team option on Williams, saving it $49.9 million in luxury tax penalties. But the 31-year-old forward will now return to a Thunder team that reached the 2026 Western Conference finals.
It’s a sign of just how much OKC values Williams, who doesn’t always get his number called. He averaged a modest 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes last season, but he’s a key contributor to the culture and a respected voice in the locker room.
OKC has filled its 15th and final roster spot by bringing Williams back. The Thunder initially freed up two spots this summer by trading Aaron Wiggins to Atlanta and Isaiah Joe to Detroit. It then selected Michigan’s Aday Mara and Iowa’s Bennett Stirtz with the 12th pick and 16th pick, respectively, in the 2026 NBA Draft.
