The Ohio State women's basketball team has landed a massive prospect with the announced commitment of five-star center Sydney Mobley out of Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio, on Friday. Though Mobley is ranked as the No. 3 center and 18th overall recruit in the 2027 class, according to Mick Welcker of Lettermen Row (subscription may be required), Mobley will reclassify to the 2026 class and join the team for the upcoming season.
You may recognize the last name, and if so, yes, Mobley is related to Ohio State sharpshooter John Mobley, Jr. The two are cousins, both from the Central Ohio area. Her addition means OSU will add three new players to a roster that already has a veteran presence, including superstar guard Jaloni Cambridge. At 6-foot, 2-inches, Mobley has the size and skill to either play on the post or as a power forward. Look for the coaching staff to tinker with both.
