It's time again to check in on where the Ohio State basketball team stands in the latest Joe Lunardi bracketology on ESPN. The Buckeyes are still in familiar territory, right on the bubble according to the venerable Lunardi, in line with what we've been accustomed to over the last few years.
The Buckeyes are in dire need of some signature wins, or they will remain squarely on a bubble that could pop as it has the last three seasons, because after the loss at Michigan and the win against Penn State, Ohio State is listed as one of the last four teams in, according to Lunardi. That's a very precarious spot because it would have the Buckeyes playing in one of the first four games, but also because any bid stealers would cut into -- even eliminate -- OSU's chances of getting an at-large bid.
The good news is that there is still plenty of time left in the season for OSU to build a better body of work, but unless it starts to win games that will impress the committee, one stumble in a game it should win has the potential to have it on the wrong side of the so-called bubble.
In the latest. Lunardi has Ohio State as a No. 11 seed, down one seed line. That's just after he had the Buckeyes in at a No. 10 seed earlier this week. Obviously, it's a position that Ohio State has to firm up over the next few weeks to have more of a margin of error.
Welcome to life in the Big Ten. Ohio State has a tough schedule the rest of the season, so there is plenty of opportunity to build on its resume, but that also means there are plenty of losses as a potential to go. We'll stay on top of it. Next up is a game at Wisconsin that would be considered a Quad 1 win for OSU on Saturday.
