Officials miss penalties all the time but in the biggest game of the year, they failed to see a clear foul on the Seattle Seahawks. It came on a sack by Demarcus Lawrence on Matthew Stafford, as the defensive end blatantly grabbed the quarterback’s facemask on third down.
Sean McVay motioned to the official after the play, pleading for a foul, but no flag was thrown. Instead of it being first down inside the 20-yard line, the Rams were pushed back to the Seahawks’ 32-yard line and were forced to settle for a long field goal, which Harrison Mevis made.
Here’s a look at the play.
It's still early in the game, but that may have been the difference in a field goal or touchdown for the Rams.
