Well, you were touting Wendell Bryant right up until the time he was cut. So, I'd guess you'd think he's not going to be a bust.

If Tate is a better player for the whole thing, maybe he'll step in at some point and help us out. I really doubt he'll be an afterthought.

I was optimistic that Bryant had matured to the point where he had turned the corner.......I didn't anticipate that he would fail another alcohol test and face a year's suspension.

PRESCOTT — The Cardinals and first-round pick Antrel Rolle are putting the finishing touches on a contract, Rolle said early Tuesday afternoon, and he expected to be able to practice by Wednesday morning.Related Links

Sports“I’m excited,” Rolle said.

Rolle, a cornerback, was at the team’s Tempe facility Tuesday while the deal was being finalized. By the time the Cardinals hold a special-teams workout later Tuesday, he will have missed 13 practices during his eight-day absence from camp.

Still, Rolle is expected to be thrust into the starting defense immediately, starting opposite David Macklin.

What is the deal with "tentative agreement"? Tentative usually means things may change??

Our secondary just got it ace. I love hearing that Tate and Green are looking good in camp, but they're not the guys I want to see lining up opposite opponent's starting WRs.

I figure that Rolle will likely make his share of mistakes early in the year, but come the last six weeks of the season when we're (hopefully) making a playoff push, Rolle be blossoming into the shutdown #1 corner we hope he can be. If that happens, our defense will be looking very, very good.

The news is still not up on ESPN site. You figure signing #8 pick should be up there by now.

Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has agreed to terms on a six-year contract with cornerback Antrel Rolle. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

The team’s first-round selection (8th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft, Rolle collected All-American and ACC first team honors as a senior at Miami in addition to being named a consensus first team choice by Associated Press, Sporting News, and Sports Illustrated. He finished 2004 with 58 tackles (37 solo) with 1.5 sacks, 6.5 stops for losses of 61 yards and a fumble recovery in 12 games. He was selected to the All-ACC Academic team, was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (best defensive back), a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award (best defensive player) and finished third in voting for ACC Defensive Player of the Year last season as well.

In four seasons as Miami, Rolle was credited with 183 tackles (129 solo), 5 interceptions, 4.5 sacks along with returning 13 punts for 203 yards and one touchdown in 45 career games (36 starts).

All seven members of the Cardinals 2005 draft class are now under contract agreement.

ATTENTION MEDIA: Rolle is expected to be in Prescott later this evening in time to attend team meetings at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. However, he will not be available until after Wednesday morning’s practice.

Exactly! Tate and Green are fine as backups but I'd be nervous with them as our starters.

What I love about Rolle is his physical play. Rolle, Wilson and Griffith is a backfield that will make WR's think twice about risking their body to make a catch! Rolle will also help with our poor job at stopping the run last year.

This is awesome! It took a little longer than I anticipated, but he should develop quickly if the reports on his work habits are correct.

I seriously doubt he is "thrust into the starting lineup". He held out for 8 days. He will start off working with the second team, if for no other reason than for Green to let everyone know who is running the team. It won't take long for him to Crack the starting lineup, however. My guess is that he will play nickle/dime and 2nd string durring our 1st pre-season game, and by game 2 he will be in the starting lineup.

I'm really excited about Rolle. With his physical style of play, and his intensity, I see him and Adrian Wilson developing a nice relationship both on and off the field. These two will feed off of eachother durring games.

6 year deal. Interesting. We probably wanted 7 years and they wanted 6 years, so we comprimised.

So he will be there for meetings tonight, take his physical tommorow morning and be at practice tommorow night.

I don't know about that. Green drafted this guy to be his #1 CB. I'd wouldn't be shocked to see him running with the #1 Defense by the end of the day.

Dont remind Green. I want him practicing against the 1st team Offense. Which is what he will be doing if he is on the 2nd string D.

It is only the second 1st round signing that is 6 years in duration. This is a significant indication that the Cardinals know just how good he really is. Next year we will extend Dockett and Dansby and our core defense will be set for years.
