Official: Islam Slimani signs with CFR Cluj in Romania
Islam Slimani signed with CFR Cluj on Friday, September 12, 2025. The Algerian international joins the Romanian club as a free agent after his contract with CR Belouizdad came to an end.
Islam Slimani was officially unveiled by CFR Cluj, the eight-time Romanian champions. At 37, the Algerian striker embarks on his fifteenth professional adventure with CFR Cluj, who have lifted the Romanian title eight times in their history. Algeria’s all-time leading goalscorer is now set to discover a new league, having already played in Algeria, Portugal, England, Turkey, France, Belgium, and Brazil.
The Romanian club, a regular contender in European competitions, welcomed the Fennecs’ star striker with great enthusiasm, emphasizing his record as the top scorer in Algerian national team history. Slimani has signed a contract running until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend beyond that date.
