The Joker is ousted.

Novak Djokovic was upset by Joao Fonseca in the third round of the French Open in a thrilling five-set match on Friday, May 29.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner started off strong, capturing the first two sets. But the rising Brazilian star took control to overtake Djokovic and win 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. The Serbian star was seen vomiting into a trash can toward the beginning of the fifth set. Temperatures have hovered around 90 degrees Fahrenheit at Roland Garros this week.

Fonseca, 19, is the first teenager to beat Djokovic in a Grand Slam, according to The Tennis Letter. The Brazilian player grinned widely and rubbed his head after beating the three-time French Open champion. The two shared a hug and some words at the net. The match was on Fonseca's mother's birthday and he thanked her in his victory speech.

There have been several upsets on the men's side of the tournament and there are no major champions left. Top-seeded and top-ranked Jannick Sinner lost to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round. Daniil Medvedev was upset in the first round by Adam Walton. The first round also saw grand finales for Stan Wawrinka and Gaël Monfils, who each dropped their matches in their last seasons before retirement.

Carlos Alcaraz, who won the past two French Open titles, is not playing in this year's tournament to focus on recovering from a wrist injury.
