Not even a full week old, the college basketball transfer portal is alive and well. Programs are starting to land commitments, guys are withdrawing and 2026-27 rosters are already shaping up.

The UNC men's basketball program has some work to do in the portal, needing to replace two of its top three scorers in Caleb Wilson and Seth Trimble.

How about adding Notre Dame transfer Jalen Haralson? On Saturday morning, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein announced Haralson included North Carolina in his final three destinations.

Haralson will now decide between the Tar Heels, Tennessee and Ohio State, all of whom made the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

A 6'7" freshman from Anderson, Ind., Haralson brings the versatility and scoring punch UNC is in big need of. Haralson anchored the Fighting Irish's scoring attack with 16.2 points per game, while also averaging a team-best 2.6 points per game.

When Notre Dame came to Chapel Hill on January 21, Haralson netted 13 points and secured six rebounds, both most amongst his team's starters.

The Fighting Irish suffered their fourth-straight losing season, failing to reaching their Mike Brey-level success under Micah Shrewsberry. If Haralson chooses to continue his college basketball career at North Carolina, he'll play for a much-better coach in Michael Malone.

Looking ahead at the Tar Heels' roster this fall, Luka Bogavac and Jarin Stevenson, assuming the latter decides to return, compete for playing time at the wing. Stevenson played more power forward during UNC's 2025-26 season, a spot he'll continue playing with Wilson likely gone to the NBA.

If Haralson commits to North Carolina, he likely starts, whether as a tall shooting guard or at wing. Utah guard Terrence Brown is visiting the Tar Heels, so things are looking up.
