Notre Dame gets commit from kicker Owen Davies

Kicker Owen Davies has committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The five-star class of 2028 Davies was listed at number two by Kohl's Kicking Camps. He stands six-foot, 190 pounds.

He's currently in school at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee.

For those who think a kicker isn't an exciting recruit, just think back to some of the place-kicking issues last season -- perhaps the Irish make the playoffs if an extra point against Texas A&M is converted. Or think to the year prior, when a game-winning field goal was needed to beat Penn State in the playoff.

Sure, it will be a bit before Davies steps on campus, but the Irish have to have an eye on special teams, too.
