The 2026 Winter Olympics have seen Norway dominate the medal count throughout the event, and the country’s biggest star Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo has now tied an Olympic record.
Klaebo secured his 10th gold medal Wednesday, which extends his Winter Olympics mark that he previously set at the Milan-Cortina event.
However, the Norwegian is now chasing an Olympic record held by U.S. swimming legend Michael Phelps. The star-studded duo are the only two Olympians to ever surpass the 10-gold medal mark in either Summer Olympics or Winter Olympics.

Meanwhile, Michael Phelps’ mark might be a bit unrealistic to achieve for Hoesflot Klaebo as he trails the U.S. legend by 13 golds.
Klaebo sits at 12 medals overall after a dominant 2026 Winter Olympics that’s seen the 29 year old win five gold medals in Italy. This comes after the Norway skier won five medals collectively at the previous two Olympics in 2018 and 2022.

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo can certainly take solace in the fact though that he holds the Winter Olympics mark and it could be quite some time until another athlete takes his place.
