With NFL training camp set to begin in two weeks, the Washington Commanders will report to Ashburn, Virginia with a revamped roster following an active offseason led by general manager Adam Peters.
After finishing 5-12 last season, Washington made significant changes on both sides of the ball, reshaping its roster while also bringing in new coordinators as the organization looks to take a step forward.
One of the team's deepest position groups entering camp is at running back, where Norfolk native and rookie Kaytron Allen will compete for playing time.
Allen, Penn State's all-time leading rusher, joins a talented backfield that includes Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for more than 800 yards during an impressive rookie season after being selected in the seventh round. Veteran Rachaad White enters his fifth NFL season after joining Washington from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Jeremy McNichols returns after providing depth and big-play ability in the backfield.
Allen spoke exclusively with 13News Now this week about the potential of Washington's running back room, saying the competition and depth at the position could play a significant role in the offense's success this season as the Commanders prepare for training camp.
