Football:
FSU will be replacing all five starters from its 2025 offensive line which was a successful unit analytically.
2025 lookback: Like most of the position lookbacks so far, the stats and the eye test tell two different stories. Florida State ran the ball effectively last year, ranking 11th in the country in rushing yards per game, and finished middle of the pack in sacks allowed, even with a mobile quarterback, yet they all felt like empty calories. The Seminoles lacked enough firepower up front to truly take over games with their OL, and when they needed a big play or something to shift momentum, they rarely delivered.
There won’t be a better time for some of FSU’s homegrown talent to consistently see the field in 2026. One of those homegrown talents
Matt Baker, now with TheAthletic, went back and watched many college football games from the 1990s. Many changes are obvious but what might be most surprising is just how far kicking has come despite #CollegeKickers still very much being a huge factor in pressure moments throughout the country.
Florida State’s Sebastian Janikowski won back-to-back Lou Groza Awards as the nation’s top kicker by making 80.6 percent of his field goals from 1998-99. That percentage would have ranked 51st among teams last year.
Meanwhile Bruce Feldman ranked the top 25 players of the 1990s and had Marvin Jones and Charlie Ward on his list:
Ward was a lethal dual-threat QB who was masterful in leading FSU to its first national title in 1993. He won the Heisman by the fourth-widest margin in the award’s history. At the time, only USC’s O.J. Simpson had racked up more first-place votes

It’s all going in the wrong direction for Malik Beasley as he’s facing serious federal charges:
Nine-year NBA veteran Malik Beasley has been indicted on federal charges for gambling related to a sports betting scheme, such as point shaving and prop bets, his attorney Steve Haney tells ESPN. The government is coordinating a voluntary surrender of Beasley this week.
