Apr. 14—MANKATO — The Beavers couldn't quite match up with the best the NSIC has to offer over the weekend.

The Bemidji State baseball team (4-28) suffered a four-game sweep at the hands of No. 8 Minnesota State (30-3) on Saturday and Sunday, losing by scores of 7-0, 16-2, 12-0 and 10-6.

The league-leading Mavericks silenced BSU's bats in game one. Starting pitcher Nathan Culley pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while notching eight strikeouts.

MSU dominated game two, jumping out to a commanding 10-1 lead through three innings and maintaining control through the final four to win in seven.

Game three saw another excellent performance from a Minnesota State starting pitcher. Sam George allowed just one hit and no runs through six innings, tallying two walks and four strikeouts. The Beavers' only hit of the game came courtesy of Beau Thoma.

Bemidji State's batters finally came to life in the final game of the series, highlighted by a three-run homer from Adrian Falcon in the top of the third. However, BSU couldn't quite keep up with the red-hot Mavericks.

After Falcon's home run gave the Beavers a 6-3 lead, MSU's Lincoln Berry responded with a grand slam in the bottom of the third to capture a 7-6 advantage. The Mavericks tacked on three insurance runs to put away Bemidji State.
