After sealing a crucial victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night in the play-in tournament, the Golden State Warriors secured the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and an official spot in the postseason dance. With the play-in tournament in the rearview, the Warriors can now turn their attention to their first-round opponent, the No. 3 seed Houston Rockets.

Under Ime Udoka, the Rockets cruised to a 52-30 record on the way to locking up a top-three seed in the Western Conference. The Warriors will have to find a way to slow down the young trio of Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson.

The Warriors have played the Rockets five times during the 2024-25 campaign, winning three of their matchups. The Warriors started the season with two wins over the Rockets, stretching their win streak over Houston to 14 straight regular-season wins. However, in December, the Rockets held on for a one-point win, bouncing the Warriors from the NBA Cup in the quarterfinals and snapping their 15-game losing streak against the Warriors.

In their most recent matchup in early April, the Warriors came into the contest riding a five-game win streak. However, Houston snapped Golden State's win streak with a 106-96 win at Chase Center. The Rockets defense limited Steph Curry to only three points on 1-of-10 shooting from the field.

The Warriors and Rockets last met in the playoffs in 2019, with the Warriors winning the series in six games, 4-2. The Warriors also faced the Rockets in the postseason in 2018, 2016 and 2015, with Golden State winning all three series.

The Warriors will travel to Houston on Sunday for Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
