The Oklahoma baseball team wants to host an NCAA Tournament Regional. With more play like they've exhibited against Ole Miss, it might just happen.

The 21st-ranked Sooners beat No. 18 Ole Miss for the second straight day on Saturday, winning 5-3, to take the series. OU will go for the sweep Sunday at 2 p.m. from L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Oklahoma led 5-1 heading into the seventh inning when the Rebels began to claw back. Isaac Humphrey hit a two-run single after a walk and double to start the frame. Ole Miss would load the bases with just one out, theatening to pull closer, but Jason Bodin induced a double-play groundball to escape the jam. The Rebels would put two runners on base in ninth before Dylan Crooks struck out Luke Hill to end the game.

OU jumped on Ole Miss starter Riley Maddox immediately. Trey Gambill tripled as the Sooners' second batter of the game and Easton Carmichael knocked him in with a home run down the left field line. Mason Hamlin plated another run when he hit into a bases-loaded fielder's choice to give the Sooners a quick 3-0 lead.

Austin Fawley hit a solo home run off Oklahoma starter Cade Crossland in the second but OU responded with another Carmichael home run in the fifth to go alongside a bases-loaded walk from Dawson Willis.

Maddox worked just 4 1/3 innings for the Rebels. He allowed all five runs on eight hits, four of which went for extra bases, and two walks while striking out five. Crossland was steadier on the other side, allowing just the two runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in his six innings.

Carmichael was the start. He went 4 for 5 with the two home runs. Jason Walk reached twice with a double and a walk. Gambill hit a single with his triple.

Game 3 is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
