HUNTSVILLE, Texas – NM State wrapped up its weekend in Huntsville with a tight, low‑scoring matchup on Sunday as the Aggies battled Sam Houston in the series finale. The pitching and defense kept NM State within striking distance throughout, but a three‑run fourth inning proved to be the difference. A late pinch‑hit home run put the Aggies on the board, though the comeback ultimately fell just short in a 3–1 decision.
Both teams opened with three scoreless frames before Sam Houston broke through with a three‑run fourth, highlighted by a two‑run homer. NM State threatened in the fifth and sixth before Joleeanna Hair delivered a pinch‑hit solo shot in the seventh to spark a late push, but the Aggies couldn’t extend the rally. Faith Aragon kept the game close with a complete‑game performance, allowing just four hits while striking out seven.
