(ENGLEWOOD, Co) — There were no limitations for Bo Nix during his first week of training camp. Participating in each part of practice as training camp opened on the last day of July, the third-year quarterback showed no signs of the ankle injury that ended his 2025 season in January.
“There’s nothing to hold me back,” Nix said. “I’m out there playing like I normally do and feel really good at my spot.”
Playing like the quarterback we saw against the Buffalo Bills in the postseason is music to Broncos’ fans ears, but Nix’s role on this team is also growing as he gains more confidence and starts to have a bigger role from a leadership standpoint. Nix talked about how his role has grown since his rookie year when he spoke to the media for the first time during training camp on Saturday, Aug. 1.
“Year one, I’m trying to not mess up for the team,” Nix said. “I feel like year three, I’m trying to make plays for the team, so it’s quite a different feeling. There’s hardly going to be a situation I haven’t been in, so it’s good to lead our team.”
As for the rest of the team, it’s execution looks like a squad that has played together before. With many returning players from last season’s AFC Championship run, the early days of training camp have felt dusting off the cobwebs rather than learning a new system.
“There’s a lot of younger players that have been through this process now,” head coach Sean Payton said. “I think they’re used to how we practice, they’re used to the schedule, and so that comes from the experience.”
But week two of training camp will see the Broncos shift into high gear to get ready for the regular season. Denver will be working six days straight which includes pads starting on Monday, Aug. 3.
