After missing the playoffs for just the second time in eight seasons, the Ravens fired John Harbaugh, hired Jesse Minter, and the defensive-minded head coach has taken early steps to build a juggernaut coaching staff.
Minter's next step will be to sign quarterback Lamar Jackson to an extension and rebuild a defense that ranked 14th in success rate (43.4%) and 29th in pressure rate (32.1%). Baltimore has 22 unrestricted free agents, according to Over The Cap, with big names like Tyler Linderbaum, Isaiah Likely, Kyle Van Noy, Dre'Mont Jones, Alohi Gilman, Chidobe Awuzie, and Ar'Darius Washington among those Eric DeCosta will evaluate.
With the new league year just hours away, we're looking at the worst free agent signings in the Baltimore Ravens franchise history.
Grbac was brought in on a five-year, $30 million deal to replace Trent Dilfer, who won 11 straight games for the Ravens, including their 34-7 Super Bowl victory over the New York Giants. Leading the defending Super Bowl champions, Grbac threw 15 TDs and 18 interceptions in one season with the Ravens.
Searcy signed a 6-year, $31.5 million deal in Baltimore, but never played a regular-season snap due to a triceps injury.
Earning his stardom with the Legion of Boom defense, Thomas signed a 4-year, $55 million deal in Baltimore but was released after one season following a fight with a teammate and a serious off-the-field situation.
Foxworth was a third-round draft pick (97th overall) of the Denver Broncos in 2005 and was a part-time starter during his stint in Denver before he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons, where he started 10 of 14 games and totaled 39 tackles and one interception. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Foxworth had four interceptions in 60 career games before joining the Ravens. After signing a 4-year, $28 million deal, Foxworth suffered a torn ACL and played only 18 games, recording 4 interceptions.
Signed to replace Orlando Brown Jr., Villanueva had his worst season in the NFL before shortly retiring.
Anderson only rushed for 245 yards in two seasons with Baltimore.
The veteran wide receiver logged 14 catches for 170 yards in one season with the Ravens.
Watkins caught 27 passes for 394 yards and one touchdown in 13 games played during his first season in Baltimore.
In a move that was supposed to benefit both parties, the Eagles acquired veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens. The Eagles receive the veteran cornerback and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Alexander signed a one-year deal with the Ravens after the Packers released him in June. Alexander played in two games this season in Baltimore, registering five tackles. However, in the remaining six games, he was either injured or a healthy scratch.
Alexander has 290 career tackles, 12 for loss, 12 interceptions, 1.5 sacks, 70 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a touchdown in the regular season.
