Nikki Drew will return as the head girls basketball coach at Lakota East, the school announced on Monday, May 4.

Drew previously held the position for four seasons from 2009-2013, leading Lakota East to a 55-40 overall record. The Thunderhawks reached the district finals in 2010 and the Division I regional championship game in 2011.

Prior to her first stint with Lakota East, which started during the 2008-2009 season as an assistant, Drew was the head coach at Colerain for five years.

Drew was inducted into the Xavier Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015. Formerly Nikki Kremer, she was a two-time all-conference selection at Xavier as the Musketeers' point guard. She averaged 8.9 assists per game in 1999, which ranked No. 2 in the nation and was a single-season school record. She helped lead Xavier to an NCAA Tournament berth as a senior in 1999.

She still ranks No. 2 in school history in career assists (545). Drew, a Mercy High School product, is also a member of the Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame.

Drew replaces Dan Wallace, who stepped down in April to become the assistant athletic director at Mercy McAuley. Lakota East finished 10-13 last season.
