This will come as a big blow to those who are German national team fans and Borussia Dortmund fans, as center- Nico Schlotterbeck is expected to be out “several months” with an ankle injury per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg:

❌ BREAKING | Bitter news for Germany: Nico Schlotterbeck’s World Cup is over.

MRI scans have confirmed a layoff of several weeks following the ankle injury to his left foot suffered against Ivory Coast. Antonio Rüdiger is expected to replace him for the time being.

⤵️ DFB have now confirmed: Nico Schlotterbeck is expected to be sidelined for „several months“ after suffering a ligament injury to his left ankle.

Julian Nagelsmann: “Schlotti will be a huge miss for us on the pitch as an outstanding defender, especially because of his excellent build-up play. It could have been his World Cup. Fortunately, he is a very positive character who is already looking ahead.”

This is a tough blow for the Germans and for BVB fans. Waldemar Anton, Antonio Rüdiger, and Malick Thiaw are the three other players, who can play at center-back on the roster.
