The Chargers signed defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson to a one-year, $7.5 million deal with $6 million fully guaranteed.

Tomlinson was released by the Cardinals on March 6 as the organization cleared up $9.4 million in cap space. Just a few days later, he inked a deal with the Bolts.

Last season, Tomlinson started all 17 games for the Cardinals, posting 26 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack. The 32-year-old has been a bit of a journeyman throughout his nine seasons in the NFL, playing for the Giants, Vikings, and Browns.

The addition of Tomlinson should provide Chris O'Leary's defense with another experienced veteran. Moreover, he should aid the Chargers' run defense.

Tomlinson is general manager Joe Hortiz's latest sneaky, smart pickup.

Here's how social media reacted to the Chargers signing Tomlinson:

Dalvin Tomlinson is an absolute BEAST in the trenches Veteran DL who eats double teams, stops the run cold, and brings that nasty edge. Chargers just got MASSIVE value on a 1yr deal. Run defense about to LEVEL UP! #BoltUp#Chargers#NFLFreeAgencypic.twitter.com/3ZdswYTtpR

Solid pickup for the Chargers. Dalvin Tomlinson brings toughness and experience to the interior. Quiet move, but it should help that run defense immediately.

Jim Harbaugh is really building this team from the trenches up. Exactly what we needed! ⚡

Chargers signed DT Dalvin Tomlinson, formerly of the Cardinals, to a one-year, $7.5 million contract.

Cards was a bad 1 year move for him. But was solid for the rest of his career. This is a total Hortiz move. Put the shine back on him. pic.twitter.com/oQyvioejGT

Yo, Dalvin Tomlinson in Chargers gear? That’s a game-changer on the D-line! $6M guaranteed shows they’re betting big on him, and honestly, I can’t wait to see him dominate out there. This is gonna fire up the whole defense!

Great move by the Chargers! Dalvin Tomlinson brings that veteran grit to the D-line should help plug those run gaps and give Herbert more time to shine.

Adding Dalvin Tomlinson to the interior next to Teair Tart is exactly how you stop the run in the AFC West. The Chargers are moving away from "finesse" and leaning into pure physicality.

Tomlinson fills a huge need for the Chargers, and quietly makes them much tougher against the run. Wonder if this impacts their draft strategy at all?

Chargers quietly improving the front seven with this move.
