The Chicago Bears are signing former Detroit Lions wide receiver Kalif Raymond to a one-year, $5.1 million contract to add depth at receiver following DJ Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus' departures this offseason.
Raymond is reunited with former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and receivers coach Antwaan Randle-El, who both coached him during his time in Detroit. Raymond spent the last five seasons with the Lions, where he had 171 receptions for 2,,185 yards and eight touchdowns in 77 games with 29 starts.
As you can imagine, there was plenty of reaction to Chicago signing Raymond, which included satisfied Bears fans and frustrated Lions fans who didn't want Raymond reuniting with Johnson.

This is an Antwaan Randle El signing -- had him in Detroit, gets him in Chicago now. https://t.co/KghRBvAaGm

Nice depth addition for the #Bears offense. Kalif Raymond knows the system and provides speed to the WR room.
They needed someone to compete with Jahdae Walker for WR3. I’m on board. https://t.co/V68NxrLc20

Raymond knows Ben Johnson's system. But I truly think Jahdae Walker is WR3. Raymond is a vet and should be a fun weapon and strengthens the WR room with DJ Moore and Zaccheus leaving https://t.co/7k1z5XcFg9

Good pickup. All-Pro punt returner who can get all the way to the end zone. Returns kicks too. Will help replace OZ in offense/locker room. Was with Ben Johnson and Antwaan Randle El in Detroit. https://t.co/Dxua6OpEA7

All of their coaches and player keep coming to Chicago #upgradehttps://t.co/ae5CQFUgNApic.twitter.com/yDZdYcy7v8

I knew the Bears were going to target a smaller WR that can return kicks and punts and Raymond was a prime candidate. No surprise to see him reunite with Ben Johnson. https://t.co/vbKdZ13qEn

Love this move for Chicago
-Played in Ben Johnson's offense
-5'8" 180 lbs is a different build they don't have in the WR room
Another guy from my list! https://t.co/YB7MuTWjea

Perfectly cromulent Oz replacement https://t.co/Trdy8D0Gzk

I think Ben Johnson is Dan Campbell’s son at this point https://t.co/lE1QlZpXwL

Raymond doesn’t get a lot of targets, but for his career he’s got a catch% of 72.8% on 261 targets
For reference OZ has 62% on 300 targets#Bearshttps://t.co/kMsSsNiTtH

The number of players and staff who have followed Ben Johnson from Detroit to Chicago is very telling. https://t.co/FvIOTRPiCO
