The NFL free agency negotiating window has opened, and the Chicago Bears have made their first signing. The Bears are set to sign defensive tackle Neville Gallimore to a two-year deal. The news was first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. The deal is worth $12 million but cannot be officially announced until Wednesday.
Gallimore was a third-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and has bounced around since coming into the league. After four years with the Cowboys, Gallimore spent a season with the Los Angeles Rams before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2025. That's where Gallimore enjoyed his best season as a pro. In 17 games, Gallimore totaled 38 tackles (four for a loss), 3.5 sacks, and three pass breakups.
Coming to the Bears, Gallimore will likely serve as a depth option behind Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter. It isn't the splashiest signing, but it's one to help improve the interior of the defensive line. Here is how fans reacted to the first expected signing for the Bears:

Neville Gallimore
6'2" 307 lbs
29 yrs old
Pass rush win %:
2025 = 14.8
For context, Moro Ojomo 15.5, Franklin-Myers 14.9, Jalen Carter 14.6, Gervon Dexter 13.8
He's always been a better pass rusher than run defender. https://t.co/ukPAt5cO79

The missing piece to a Super Bowl.
In all seriousness, perfectly good depth! https://t.co/AKv5wxYn8a

Rotational interior pass rusher, coming off a career-high 3.5 sacks in 2025
Originally a 3rd-round pick by the Cowboys, so I'm sure Al Harris could vouch for him https://t.co/layhKRpK67

Bears are officially on da board
Definitely a depth signing but some help finally to the D-Line https://t.co/XvAGJ47U2k

I know nothing about him and it’s cheap so I don’t really care. Hope he gives us something as a rotational piece https://t.co/GQwSbCC4oe

Journeymen who had a nice year for the Colts last year.
Not exciting, but anything that gets Grady and Dexter off the field is a win. https://t.co/7sLz4uR3A3

Not even close to the DT "Splash I was hoping for"
I was hoping for Sebastian Joseph Day... At worst...
Ok, time to get used to this https://t.co/4qElowqQWz

Haven’t heard this guys name since he was drafted, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for a DT https://t.co/u2rJTKi1OO
