Former Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller has found his next job opportunity, contiunuing to work in the world of sports. This time, though, Haller will not be working in college athletics, instead, going to the NFL.

The NFL has hired Haller to be the Senior Director, Collegiate Flag Football Development. Haller will oversee the NFL's flag football operations, in which the league announced an investment of up to $32 million in a new professional league. The sport will also make its Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028.

Just over a year after being fired by Michigan State, Haller took to LinkedIn to announce the news.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to help lead the growth of one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, especially at the collegiate level and for women. Building programs, strengthening partnerships, and expanding opportunities for student-athletes is work that truly matters to me. I’m honored to step into this role and excited for what’s ahead as we continue advancing the game and creating new pathways for the next generation of athletes.”

After being a star on the gridiron for Michigan State, Haller spent three years in the NFL. Haller's career began in law enforcement before spending 2010-2025 in the Spartans athletic department.
