The final day of the 2025 NFL regular season is officially here. The current NFL playoff picture is now very much in focus after a couple of important Saturday games, but there are still some postseason situations to monitor in Week 18.

We now know seven of the eight playoff teams in each of the NFC and the AFC, and some seeding is still up for grabs with one games left to play for most teams.

So it’s time once again for that always fun and sometimes complicated breakdown of what needs to happen for certain teams heading into Sunday. Let’s break it all down by team and scenario:

AFC playoff scenarios​


The Broncos, Patriots, Jaguars, Bills, Texans and Chargers have all clinched playoff spots.

The Broncos can grab the AFC's top seed and a bye with any of the following:


  • A win
  • A Patriots loss and a Jaguars loss.

The Patriots can win the No. 1 seed with any of the following:

  • A win and and Broncos loss.

The Texans can win the AFC South with:

  • A win over the Colts and a Jaguars loss

The Jaguars can clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC with:

  • A win and a Broncos loss and a Patriots loss

The Jaguars can clinch the AFC South with any of the following:

  • A win or a tie vs. the Titans.
  • A Texans tie/loss.

The Steelers can win the AFC North and clinch a playoff spot with:

  • A win or a tie vs. the Browns.

The Ravens can win the AFC North and clinch a playoff spot with:

  • A win vs. the Steelers

NFC playoff scenarios​


The Seahawks, Bears, Eagles, 49ers, Rams and Packers have all clinched playoff spots.

The Panthers can with the NFC South and a playoff spot with any of the following:


  • A Falcons win vs. the Saints.

The Buccaneers can win the NFC South and a playoff spot with:

  • A Saints win vs. the Falcons
