NFL playoff scenarios for Week 17: Which AFC, NFC teams can clinch?

The final couple of weeks in the NFL are coming in the 2025 season. And although the current NFL playoff picture is now coming into focus, there are some postseason situations to monitor in Week 17.

We now know seven of the eight playoff teams in each of the NFC and the AFC. But the seeding is still up for grabs with two games left to play for most teams.

So it’s time once again for that always fun and sometimes complicated breakdown of what needs to happen for certain teams heading into this week. Let’s break it all down by team and scenario:

AFC playoff scenarios​

The Broncos, Patriots, Jaguars, Bills, Texans and Chargers have all clinched playoff spots.

The Broncos can grab the AFC's top seed and a bye with:

• A Patriots loss and a Bills loss/tie and a Jaguars loss/tie

The Patriots can win the AFC East with any of the following:

• A win and a Bills loss/tie
• A tie and a Bills loss

The Steelers can win the AFC North with:

• A win or a tie vs. the Browns

The Ravens are still alive after Saturday's win over the Packers

NFC playoff scenarios​

The Seahawks, Bears, Eagles, 49ers, Rams and Packers have all clinched playoff spots.

The Seahawks can clinch the NFC's top seed, a bye and the NFC West with:

• A win and a Rams loss/tie and a 49ers tie

The Panthers can with the NFC South with any of the following:

• A win and a Buccaneers loss/tie
• A tie and Buccaneers loss
