Just when Washington Commanders fans have been jumping on the Stefon Diggs bandwagon...former NFL receiver Cris Carter says, Not so fast, my friend.

Yes, increasing numbers of Commanders fans have been calling for WR Stefon Diggs in recent weeks. The numbers of fans also on social media acting as if GM Adam Peters better get Diggs or he is failing as a GM is mind boggling.

Most fans reveal repeatedly that they are a mile wide and an inch deep. They simply don't think beyond the nose on their face. Pay whatever it takes to obtain Alec Pierce, Romeo Doubs, Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk, and now Stefon Diggs. People, don't you realize that whatever decisions Adam Peters makes, there are going to be consequences? Peters has to consider likely negative consequences as well, whereas fans don't. They simply make a wish list and think all will be well. That's not the case in real life.

There are reasons why former NFL receiver Cris Carter did not speak favorably about Diggs on his podcast this week. On his Fully Loaded podcast, he didn't hold back, expressing that there are real red flags he sees in Stefon Diggs.

Speaking as to why the Patriots released Diggs, "Well, they thought they had him for two years, right? And I can guarantee you his behavior, and then his girlfriend, baby mama, her behavior, and how they perform the organization decided, you know, something, we’re not going to move forward, and we have to support our young quarterback. That’s why they cut him.

Peters as GM, head coach Dan Quinn, and offensive coordinator David Blough have to take into consideration the fact of Diggs' past history. He wears out his welcome, so teams get rid of him. So Peters, Quinn and Blough have to consider how much they are willing to let Jayden Daniels endure? They also have to consider chemistry, such as whether Daniels is strong enough to lead the offense and prevent Diggs from being a bad apple in the locker room.

Carter continued, “Also, at the time, he was facing an assault charge, which he’s been acquitted of. But all those things run hand in hand,” Carter added. “He’s not a great leader to be in for the wide receiver room, to be the guy that we have to depend on because he is really inconsistent, especially off the field. Like, you have to make up your mind, like what are you going to be? Are you going to be a personality? Like, are you going to be a pro football player?”

If a former player like Cris Carter is considering all of these things, how much more and to how much more of a degree do you think Peters and Quinn consider these types of issues regarding Diggs or Aiyuk? It's not to say they won't sign one of them, but you can bet they want to protect Daniels as much as they can, and why wouldn't they?
