A different professional football league is eyeing Diego Pavia following his NFL release from the Baltimore Ravens in July.
The former college football standout received devastating news Thursday when the AFC North franchise waived him prior to training camp starting next week. ESPN insider Adam Schefter reveals that Pavia is now in the market for a new team after his release.

However, the UFL is leaving some fans to speculate about Pavia’s future after a cryptic social media post. The spring football league has been known to take shots on notable players and perhaps the former Vanderbilt star could be next.
Pavia’s path to the NFL always faced an uphill battle after going undrafted during the 2026 NFL Draft. His five-feet 10-inch frame isn’t exactly a prototypical size for an NFL-caliber signal caller.
However, his tenacity and ability to turn Vanderbilt around certainly deserves to be considered by teams. Pavia’s criticism regarding the Heisman Trophy in 2025 may have also raised some personality concerns.
The former college football star took to Instagram after the Heisman Trophy ceremony and wrote “F-all the voters.” Pavia finished second place in voting behind Las Vegas Raiders number one pick Fernando Mendoza.

It’s very likely that Pavia gets another shot at some level of competition though. His skillset is too good to not be valued at the pro level, even if that means he won’t be playing in the NFL.
The UFL and CFL are both viable options that have given quarterbacks and other talented players opportunities in the past. That goes for recent UFL graduates like KaVontae Turpin, Brandon Aubrey and Harrison Mevis.

Meanwhile, NFL teams are always looking for players as the season gets closer. That’s especially the case when injuries begin to set in. NFL rosters won’t be cut down to the final 53-man squad until Aug. 30, which leaves Pavia with plenty of time to make a comeback.
