The New York Giants are less than a week away from yet another crucial NFL draft as they continue to build a roster that appears to be going in the wrong direction.

Despite having the toughest strength of schedule in 2025, the current regime of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll desperately need to improve from their last two seasons.

One NFL analyst believes the Giants are on the top of the list of teams with the most at stake entering the 2025 NFL draft:

For all of the hyperbole that surrounds the draft every year, few teams typically enter the event with a true mandate. But in keeping coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen for another year, co-owner John Mara made explicit that he's "just about run out of patience" and expects the current brain trust to find a quarterback of the future.

In 2024, the Giants had one of their worst seasons in history, notching just three wins in the third year of the current regime.

One of the likely reasons ownership decided to retain Schoen and Daboll was the impressive 2024 draft class. Between Malik Nabers, Tyrone Tracy, Dru Phillips and Tyler Nubin, the Giants had one of their better drafts in recent memory.

Schoen will hope to have his second straight impressive draft class after two subpar draft classes over his first two years as the Giants' general manager.

Ironically enough, if the Giants draft Travis Hunter, he would likely be the team's No. 1 cornerback, a void the Giants thought they had filled in the 2023 draft when they took Deonte Banks. And if they end up selecting Abdul Carter, he would likely bump 2022 first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux down in the rotation.

Schoen made it clear the Giants would not pass on a generational talent and they are in prime position to hit a home run with their first round pick. However, Schoen will have to find the value in the late rounds like he did in 2024.

With Schoen and Daboll possibly on the hot seat, there is certainly plenty at stake for the Giants ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.
