Connor Orr of Sports Illustrated put together his 100 bold predictions for the upcoming NFL season, and included was the Jacksonville Jaguars' Travis Hunter.

The prediction that Orr made centered around -- you guessed it -- Hunter's playing time for the 2026 season. Orr expects Hunter to play mostly cornerback, with "90% of his snaps" coming on defense.

"I don’t think the Jaguars are ready to say that Travis Hunter will never play offense again, especially at a moment when Jacksonville could have really used a first-round pick to help offset losses in free agency," Orr wrote. "That would look disastrous. But I do think the Jaguars will try to specialize Hunter after watching him struggle to find an identity on the field before his injury last season. Hunter clearly looked more pro-ready on defense and could join the turnover-hungry Anthony Campanile crew that helped power the Jaguars’ surprising run in 2025."

Compared to last season, Hunter is going to see more opportunities on defense this year than last. Presumably, he is going to start at cornerback opposite of Montaric Brown.

That said, on numerous occasions this offseason, both GM James Gladstone and coach Liam Coen have made it clear that Hunter will continue to play both ways.

What exactly his workload on offense looks like with Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers at wideout remains to be seen, but he will have a role. While Orr said that Hunter did "struggle" to find an identity last season, Hunter did eclipse 100 receiving yards in his final game against the LA Rams, and appeared poised to break out.

"The plan has not changed at all," Coen said. "He's going to play both sides of the football just as we drafted him to do."

While appearing on the Rich Eisen Show last month, Gladstone had this to say about the topic:

"Absolutely not," Gladstone said when asked by Rich Eisen if Hunter was done playing both ways. "He is set to play both sides of the ball. The piece that we can expect to see is an uptick in corner usage."

Since trading up to select Hunter with the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Jaguars made it clear that their intention was to play him both ways. They continue to stand by that.
