Neymar confirms Brazil retirement after World Cup exit
The emotional images of Neymar on Sunday evening are not for the faint of heart.
Following Brazil's shock World Cup exit after a 2-1 defeat against Norway, cameras caught the No. 10 breaking down in tears on the pitch.
Neymar, who has long been the face of the national team, then confirmed to the media that this was his last appearance in a Brazil shirt.
"I tried, I tried. Now it's over. I started here, and ended here," he said to Globo.
The 34-year-old coincidentally played his first game for Brazil in the same venue as the match against Norway: MetLife Stadium.
He bows out having scored the lone goal from the penalty spot during Sunday's defeat, bringing his international tally to 80 goals in 130 appearances.
