These coaches watched us fire Gannon after 3 seasons of forcing Kyler on him - to think they'd want to come here with NO plan at QB? On top of that Monti is dragging his feet and watching coaches they liked withdraw from consideration because he's not pulling the trigger. "Uh, gee, would ya come in for a 2nd interview? oh you took a different job... let's call Ron Rivera"

Just read Cards to interview Kubiack this week does anyone else feel like this is just plain ole Stupid

Not at all, Klint Kubiak will be a head coach sooner rather than later and everyone seems to think he'll do a great job for whichever team gets him. If the choice is coming down to LaFleur vs Kubiak we should all be thrilled and patient to let the process play out so they can both get their shot to interview. Those are the two names everyone here was saying they wanted back when this process began!

my concern is that Mike and Monti are mistaking the process of being thorough with the process of getting a good HC

obvs they thought a lot of Campanile.... but he isnt willing to wait around and see if he makes the cut. Thorough has just cost the team a choice

Monti Ossenfort is 15-36 in three years as Cardinals GM and will enter Year 4 with the longest odds in the NFL to win the Super Bowl. Pretty wild Mike Bidwill kept him on, especially with how bad the QB situation has been bungled.

How exactly was Monti supposed to manage a contract with like $90m dead money?
Maybe he should have considered that before signing on! It's not like Monti was unaware of what the QB situation was when he agreed to be general manager. He wasn't assigned to the Cardinals, he took the job and talked up the QB, and then subsequently failed completely.

Blaming it all on a guy who hasn't been here for 4 years is not intellectually honest.

I said taking Murray wasnt wise I didnt think it would be this bad but Ime hardly surprised looking back Bosa would/should have been the choice Murray has all the talent in the world except where it matters in between the ears, his physical shortcoming is exactly that Few if any Qb's in the modern era are shorter than 6 feet and succeed

No one will care or even remember when we hired the coach in March. Y’all being crazy bored.
Really? From the guy who coined and references "third choice GM"?

Of course it won't matter if the coach works out. But AZ does not have a history of HCs working out and the ways they do things generally comes across more like buffoonery than calculation. Fans want hope and the Cardinals continually find ways to take that away from the few remaining fans they have.

Disagree. Drafting Kyler was the right move. As many have pointed out, the bad decision was extending him. Monti chose to move forward with him as well. That's on him.

Did any of these teams really have an instant turnaround? Other than the Rams that were dealing with major injuries during that 2022 season. They all had at least 3 years of losing seasons before they turned things around.

LOL... The Rams lost Stafford, all of their WRs and most of their OL that year. The lone blip in the McVay era. How can you even put that on there with a straight face. In the years before McVay got there, Jeff Fisher had a losing record for 5 years straight.

Why have they kept LaFleur here for 3 days? They will get it done. At least you'd think. He wouldn't have stayed in there wasn't a pretty good chance of an agreement.

A fair comparison is the turnaround after a new front office & coaching staff. The Broncos being 5-11 5 years ago has zero to do with Sean Payton turning the team around in the time he did, the Bears being 3-14 3 years ago has nothing to do with Ben Johnson, same with the Texans and Ryan or the Patriots and Vrabel. Teams can turn it around with the right front office and coaching staff fairly quickly.

Man people hated the “third-choice GM tag.” I’m not convinced that the time of the hiring cycle is deeply related to who says no. We know people said no to the Cadds GM role, which is why people being so excited about Monti’s clear-cutting plan were so funny.

But I don’t remember the dates when Gannon, Kliff, Wilkes, Arians, or Whis were hired. Whether this takes until this afternoon or a week after the Super Bowl isn’t going to matter. There’s no shortage of good assistants out there.

Instilling hope in the fan base in late January shouldn’t be a priority.

We don’t know if they have. We really just have @RON_IN_OC linking to twitter users with three-digit follower counts. Maybe they did.

If I were LeFleur, there would be few places I’d rather be than here.

I'm not gonna lie. At this point I truly don't care who we bring in. We'll likely be the last or second to last to announce a hire and it will be someone we'll universally have no idea about whether or not they'll be successful. The only names that would have excited me are long gone, and what difference is there really among the names left? What's more important to me is the assembling of the staff, what we do at quarterback, and whether Monti can actually do enough to warrant keeping his job and turn around the perception of this cursed franchise. Just get it over with already so we can move the hell on.

I guess we are now bringing in Klint Kubiak later this week for a second interview.

Something must have broken down in negotiations with Mike LeFleur. They need to get the deal done with Kubiak…If they could somehow walk away with him, I’d feel like we hit the jackpot.

Starting to think Kubiak may be a smokescreen to move MLF negotiations along. I saw where he's meeting with Raiders Thursday and Cards Friday. IMO, he's not leaving Las Vegas empty handed.
