Some college football programs are known for their expertise at a certain position, and Penn State has cultivated talent consistently at a number of them. Most notably, they’ve produced some of the best running backs in the nation over the past decade, but their tight ends have arguably been even more impressive.
The Nittany Lions have produced some of the best players at the position in recent years, like Tyler Warren of the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals star Mike Gesicki. Now, they are hoping that their newest recruit Sean Currie can carry on that legacy. Currie, a three-star tight end from New Jersey, announced his commitment to Penn State this past weekend and already has high expectations for himself and the team.
When speaking with Rivals, a respected recruiting service, after his commitment, Currie told reporters, “Any school can say they’re Tight End U, but the numbers don’t lie with Penn State.”
The school has had four tight ends taken in the NFL draft in the last five years and helped foster one of the greatest seasons by a player at the position of all time when Warren had 1,233 yards and 12 total touchdowns in 2024. Although seasons like that only come around once in a blue moon, clearly Penn State has done a terrific job at molding tight ends into NFL-caliber players.
Currie knows the Nittany Lions’ tight end legacy is a rich one and wants to live up to it.
