New York Mets owner Steve Cohen will be a founding owner in the WTGL with a team representing New York in the women’s team golf league that premieres this fall.
Launched in partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the WTGL's New York team will be owned and managed by Cohen and Cohen Private Ventures (CPV), which oversees the family office activities for Cohen and his family. The CPV’s portfolio of sports investments also includes TGL’s New York Golf Club, PGA TOUR Enterprises and the Mets.
“We’re excited to be a founding team in WTGL at a moment when women’s golf is growing in visibility,” Cohen said in a statement. “TGL has been a real success. It’s fast-paced, tech-forward, and competitive. It connects more fans with the sport. We think WTGL can do the same for women’s golf, bringing the game to a broader audience and expanding its reach. We’re proud to build out a world-class women’s team that represents the best of New York.”

Cohen's TGL team, New York Golf Club, made the finals the first season, before being swept by Atlanta. But the team consisting of Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick failed to make the second season's playoffs earlier this year.
WTGL previously announced Arthur M. Blank and Alexis Ohanian to head its first two ownership groups. Blank owns the Atlanta TGL franchise and Ohanian's Los Angeles Golf Club won last year's TGL championship. They have been joined by Alex Morgan’s Trybe Ventures as the league’s lead capital partner.
WTGL’s current roster includes 14 committed players: Celine Boutier, Brooke Henderson, CharleyHull, Danielle Kang, Megan Khang, Lydia Ko, Andrea Lee, Minjee Lee, Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, AlbaneValenzuela, Michelle Wie West, Lottie Woad and Rose Zhang. The group includes five of the current top 11players in the world and has combined for 95 LPGA Tour victories. More players are expected to be added asthe inaugural WTGL season approaches.
