The New York Giants, in an expected move, released veteran offensive lineman James Hudson III on Friday.
Hudson, who was signed by the Giants to a two-year, $12 million deal last March as a depth piece at offensive tackle, imploded in the Week 2 loss against Dallas, getting flagged four times in six snaps on a single drive, and became the first player since at least 2000 to be flagged four times on one drive.
Hudson played just one offensive snap the rest of the season, a telling sign of how low he had fallen in the eyes of the club.
Hudson's release will free up $5.38 million in salary cap space.
