New York Giants legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, widely regarded as the greatest defensive player in NFL history, was hospitalized in New Jersey on Friday following a medical emergency.

TMZ reports that the 67-year-old New York Giants legend arrived at an emergency room and was later transferred within the facility. The situation is not considered life-threatening, and Taylor is expected to be released shortly.

We confirmed Taylor, 67, arrived at the emergency room and was shortly transferred to a different section of the facility.

Those close to Taylor told us it doesn't sound like whatever he's dealing with is too serious ... and the belief is he will be discharged soon, if he has not been already.

The iconic linebacker has faced various health struggles over the years linked to the physical toll of his legendary career and past personal battles.

Taylor has openly discussed past health challenges stemming from his storied football career and personal battles with addiction. Just weeks earlier, he appeared in good spirits at the University of North Carolina, smiling alongside former Giants defensive coordinator Bill Belichick, now the Tar Heels' coach.

A two-time Super Bowl champion, 1986 NFL MVP, Rookie of the Year, and multiple-time Defensive Player of the Year, Taylor’s impact on the game remains unmatched.
