The Los Angeles Rams added a home run hitter in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the selection of running back Jarquez Hunter.
Not only did Auburn Tigers star lead the SEC in 2024 with 6.4 yards per rush and finished with more than 1,200 rushing yards, but he also finished with the second-highest explosive run rate in the FBS (runs of at least 10 yards). Hunter's 18.9% explosive run rate ranked only behind UCF running back R.J. Harvey, who went to the Denver Broncos in the second round of the draft.
The rest of that list is also full of quality draft prospects. Harvey is a second-round pick, Cam Skatteboo went to the New York Giants early in the fourth round, as did Bhayshul Tuten to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Hunter will likely begin third on the Rams' depth chart behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, but Sean McVay will find spots in the game to unleash Hunter's speed. He ran a 4.44 40-yard time at the NFL Combine.
It will be interesting to see what the Rams do with Hunter in 2025 and beyond, especially given Williams' contract situation and Corum's inefficiency following his rookie season in 2024.
