It's almost like he has a habit of making high-risk decisions without thinking them through carefully.
ishbia didn't go group style when buying the suns he owns like 83% - he will more than make his money back despite buying high - should he desire

maaaaaaaan..... far as i can tell with have everything but a true pg - and i'm starting to think that's by design - i'm starting to wonder if book prefers it that way
honestly, if Book prefers it that way, he's an idiot considering that without a PG, he's only made the playoffs 2 times out of 9 years and even in those two years is an absolutely embarrassing 0-8, while losing those 8 straight games by an average margin of 16 ppg.

He's not an idiot; it's just that winning isn't a top priority for him. But we've known that for a while.

Not sure what Booker is supposed to do about the PG situation. He and Colin played well together last year. Hopefully he pushes for Colin to start. They’ve tried bringing in other point guards… they’ve just sucked.

I think he likes playing of the ball and in motion, just he’s been stuck in a situation where the rest of the team sucks at passing.

Don't forget Booker and Green were supposed to be co Point guards. At least that was the way they initially sold it. Green was supposed to bring it up more and take pressure off Booker. From what I saw, Green isn't that great bringing it up.

Hope both of them can stay healthy at the same time so we can see some improvement from backcourt 2025!

Green is great at pushing the tempo in break opportunities. Conceivably it could work. However, I am all for Collin starting and bringing Green off the bench as a 6th man. Collin is a pretty good distributor, but it’s his shooting that really pairs him well with Book. I think Kennard would pair well with Green in the same way. Kennard is not the distributor but he is a great kick out option when Green is driving.

There's a few podcasters pushing for Gillespie to start over Green. I am thinking the Suns will try different lineups to see what happens. Definitely either way, the Suns are going to try and maximize Green's value. If it works to our favor, great, if not, future trade.

I happen to think, it's not a bad thing to let guys walk sometimes. I don't buy into, you can't let them walk without getting something back. Sometimes, that is better than using assets to trade them. If two seasons down the road it's not working, just decline to sign him.

Even though he was a cancer, I was for letting Beal stay on our roster one more season, and maybe just Jae Crowder him. I thought maybe it would lower that waive and stretch number, or at least make it one less season. I'm vindictive though. After the comments he was making to the fans, I would hve been, well, we will just give you an indefinite suspension to see if you will change your attitude a bit. LOL.

Green seems very popular with the rest of the guys though. Morale and chemistry was a strong point last year. Will be good to bump Bridges into the starting lineup and see how it works with Brooks, Book and Green. If they can't play .500 basketball then Coach Ott to mix it up.

It blows my mind that we tossed in a completely unprotected first, SEVEN years out (the only pick we could trade) to acquire a guy that no one else was pursuing.

The NBA has put in all these rules, basically to protect teams from themselves, can't trade picks in back to back years, can't trade picks passed a certain point, can't trade picks depending on your apron level...

The Ishbia Suns continue to look at these protections the league as put in place to prevent owners from ruining their teams and view it as a challenge. "They league thinks they can protect us from ourselves? Lets show them!"

He thinks he's the smartest guy in every room as he stands there in a pit with a shovel.

Wild story yes but will have zero effect on the Phoenix Suns - will not matter at all. Guy is still one of the richest owners in all of sports. Investment in the team, fans and community will not change.

Hilarious from Gambo. Shows a complete lack of understanding of how the restructuring will affect Ishbia's ability to be liquid.

The story in question.

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

If you read the follow up posts it lays the situation out better.

Long story short. The company made a very expensive gamble, while the gamble was paying out they gave investors huge stock dividends, most of that money went to the Ishbia’s. The gamble failed spectacularly and they’re hemorrhaging money.

That’s pretty ugly for ish as believe much of his net worth was tied up in stock and that common stock isn’t going to recover anytime soon even if the company continues successfully due to what amounts to rescue capital making the company super leveraged.

But his access to cash may be severely constrained now. It will be interesting to see if he’s the guy who has acted as the deep pockets money is no issue owner he’s been this far.

Kaplan Fox Investigates UWM Holdings Corporation for Possible Securities Law Violations

Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP has announced it is investigating UWM Holdings Corporation (NYSE: UWMC) for potential violations of federal securities laws The Globe and Mail+1.

Background of the Investigation

The probe follows UWM Holdings’ August 5, 2026 earnings release, which reported:

  • A $451.9 million net loss and $185.9 million adjusted EBITDA for Q2 2026.
  • A $2.05 billion equity capital investment by Oaktree Capital Management and SFS Group Capital, LLC (a newly formed Ishbia family-owned vehicle).
  • A suspended quarterly dividend by the Board of Directors The Globe and Mail+1.
In the subsequent earnings call, CEO Matthew Ishbia explained that the company had over-hedged its Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs) to protect against risks from a failed acquisition of Two Harbors. He noted that while the company does not typically hedge MSRs, the massive MSR book from the acquisition prompted a hedge, which later resulted in a $603.2 million derivatives loss TMCnet+1.

Here's what I got out of this. So there are two Ts in his name? He just chooses to shorten it to Mat instead of Matt?

Eh he doesn’t need to be liquid. He needs access to cash. Those are two very different things.
Yes - he no longer has the ability to use his company as a piggy bank anymore, which could affect future flexibility with the Suns.
