Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Michigan, opens its new nine-hole Cedar Course (Kishki) on Friday, August 7, for limited preview play. The course, designed by Paul Albanese, fully opens in 2027.
The new course gives Island Resort & Casino 45 holes in all, joining the Sweetgrass and Sage Run courses. Sweetgrass is ranked by Golfweek’s Best as tied for the No. 9 public-access course in Michigan, and Sage Run is No. 15 on that list. They are easily among the top handful of courses in the Upper Peninsula.
The limited preview tee times for the Cedar Course are available through online booking at the casino’s website for $45, and guests of the resort can add the Cedar Course separately from their booked package.
The nine-holer was built on gentler terrain next to Sage Run. The design was inspired by great Golden Age courses.
"This may be my favorite site of all three courses we've done up here," Albanese, who also designed Sage Run and Sweetgrass, said in a media release announcing the opening of the Cedar Course. "It just sets up really well for some great golf. Cedar gives players a chance to experience the strategy, creativity and fun that defined the Golden Age – without it ever feeling forced."
