Brooklyn agreed to trade w/ Phoenix to acquire Jared Dudley and 2021 second-round pick for Darrell Arthur, league sources tell ESPN. Arthur ($7.4M) headed for buyout; Dudley ($9.5M) will have that conversation with Nets. Suns save some salary, Nets get a pick protected to No. 35.

Barring a trade (which is totally possible), that leaves one spot.

Possibilities:

1. A Point Guard

2. A Center

3. Alec Peters

Roster balance would dictate a center (Alan Williams?), but Bender and Chriss could fill in and I read in some tweets about Len that one reason he is struggling to find a roster is because the trend is to only keep two centers on NBA rosters.

I think adding another point guard is the way to go. Canaan makes some sense, but my vote as of now would be for Yogi Ferrell, who conveniently just backed out of his deal with the Mavs.

If the Suns are not going to address the PG position, I'd like for them to add Harrell although Williams seems to be the popular choice on the Suns forum. Williams also likely comes cheaper.

So the Suns had been trying to get Dudley to agree to a buyout for weeks and Dudley is not a fan of buyouts. This trade makes sense through that prism. I really like that the Suns have cleared up a spot on the roster. Add Ferrell, Williams, or someone else of value and this trade was a nice move.

By not agreeing to a buyout, Dudley costs the Suns a 2nd round pick.

I suspect he thought another team would not pick him up.

Love Dudley and hope he returns to the team in some capacity once he's done playing, but he's eating up a roster spot as the 14th or 15th guy off the bench. The $2 mil savings is far more valuable.
