The Brooklyn Nets are in the midst of an offseason in which they could make a lot of decisions that will affect the franchise for the next few years. The biggest way that Brooklyn can change its team is through the NBA Draft and with the 2025 Draft happening in June, it's time to see how the Nets stack against other teams in terms of equity in the Draft.
In a ranking of all 30 NBA teams when it comes to Draft assets, ESPN's Bobby Marks and Jeremy Woo ranked Brooklyn second on the list. The Nets trail the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first spot on the list which is impressive considering that Brooklyn is relying on the Draft in some part when it comes to finding its next impact player to potentially build around.
"The rebuilding Nets head into predraft season holding a league-high five selections in the top 40," Woo wrote when giving his summary on why the Nets rank second. "They also have the most salary cap space, creating an opportunity to remake their roster. Logically, it's hard to see them rostering five rookies, and they can also open up additional cap room by consolidating some of their first-round selections."
Heading into the 2025 NBA Draft, the Nets have four first-round picks: No. 6 (own), No. 19 (via Milwaukee Bucks), No. 26 (via New York Knicks), and No. 27 (via Houston Rockets). While three of Brooklyn's first-round picks would add players that may not have the ceiling of some of the best players in the Draft, their own first-round pick could be someone like Duke forward Cooper Flagg, who has a great amount of hype during the Draft process.
More to the point, the Nets have 12 incoming first-round picks with the ability to trade nine of those picks if they wanted to make a splash this offseason, such as trading for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, for example. For a Nets organization that is just beginning the rebuilding process for the second time under general manager Sean Marks, the team is in a great position to add young talent.
