For Nelly Korda, the scene in Midland, Michigan, couldn’t possibly be more different than L.A. The No. 1 player conquered the 81st U.S. Women’s Open – the biggest, toughest championship in the game – at famed Riviera Country Club on Sunday and then headed to the Midwest, where she’s making Instagram reels with her “Legally Blonde” partner for the week, Olivia Cowan.

“I will say that Olivia is the only person that will get me to wear all pink,” said Korda.

The two friends met when they were paired together in Portland several years ago and bonded trying to find good coffee and croissants overseas. They’re still working out their walk-up music for the par-3 18th on Saturday.

“It's a very serious discussion,” said Cowan, a 30-year-old German professional who joined the LPGA in 2022 and is still waiting on her first victory. Korda, the hottest player in golf who has lost to only nine players all season, could certainly help to change her friend’s life this week at Midland Country Club.
